BAGS, BAGS, and more BAGS!

Hey there blog fans! I appreciate all three of you. (SMILE) I am actually amazed to know how many people read this blog. Who would have thought?

Anyways, I am using my platform to express a serious concern. I recently traveled to San Diego, California to holiday with friends. My travels started out pretty rough. I am learning that traveling from one coast to the other is NOT an easy thing. But most importantly,if you have not noticed, the airlines have turned passengers into cattle that they feel are a burden to heard from one pasture to the next. I also learned that the rules of engagement have changed 110% with the airlines, and life as we know it is officially over.

My first concern is that my flight to San Diego, was JAM packed. There was not an empty seat in the flight. The other observation which is the main thing that has pulled my heart strings to write is that I was charged a $25.00 fee for checking a bag. Now believe it or not I do not mind paying the fee. However, I noticed that people were carrying on luggage the size of the Sears building, which I am sure was in an attempt to avoid the fee. I was in the third zone of passengers to board the aircraft, and by the time I had boarded, the overhead bins were full. There were people shoving things into spaces that were just unthinkable. I was further moved with concern when one of the flight attendants was hit over the head with a bag that was stuffed with a students luggage for a 2 week mission trip. Just looking at the bag made my biceps hurt. The poor flight attendant kept moving, and mumbled "it is all in a days work." Things were no different on my flight returning home from San Diego. Overcrowded flights, and overhead bins that are going to cost the airlines more money than they are generating revenue were the theme of the day.

The airlines are no different than any other businesses in the United States. They have seen their fair share of challenges and hurdles. However, as a student of the art of business, I must voice that i do not think that it is good "business sense" to charge your customers these baggage fees. These baggage fees are causing people to stuff as much as they can into their bags without care or concern for any other passengers that may be on the aircraft. Not only do these bags present a harm to your passengers but they propose harm to your flight attendants and other employees. Is $25.00 worth it? I don't think so. I firmly believe that the airlines need to reconsider the charging of these baggage fees. I don't mind paying for my soda, or my in-flight snacks but, please find away to keep the overhead bins safe.

1/2 naked congressman, ranting comedians, and a partridge in a pear tree!

WOW! What a week it has been! So we have seen our fair share of headliners in the news. I am going to share with you my thoughts on as many of them as I can. I know it it not necessary for me to express my opinion, but hey, if you didn't care you would not be reading this. Shall we...

First, lets refresh our memories to a scandal that comes to us from the peachy hills of Atlanta, Ga. Yes, I am talking about none other than Bishop Eddie Long and his little scandal. Back in October, we were made aware that young, male members of Eddie Longs congregation had accused him of "conduct unbecoming of clergy." The young men stated that the Bishop had used his status in the church to persuade them into sexual activities, while under his spiritual care. Bishop Eddie Long took to his pulpit and addressed his congregation and the country stating that, "what these people have accused me of is not me. THIS I am gonna fight." His congregation leaps to their feet to lavish him with their support and approval.

A week or so ago, once again the name Eddie Long and New Birth Baptist Church filled the media. The Bishop and his attorneys had reached an out of court settlement with the young men. The attorneys stated that the settlement was in the best interest of the church and the Bishop. (SAY WHAT!?!) Okay, sooo someone accuses you of behavior that basically puts you on the same level of a pedophile, and you are not going to fight it. You are just going to throw some money at it, and expect it to all go away. Ummmm, not so easy! I will not judge the Bishop because I firmly believe in innocent until proven guilty. However, I was once told by my papa that "all a man has in the world is his name."

Next, we have the story line that involves Congressman Weiner. Congressman Weiner represents New York's 9th district. A few weeks ago, it was discovered that the congressman had been sending semi-nude photos of himself to females via-twitter. Well, a conservative blogger got a hold of the pictures and went public with them. This caused an ALL out "Attack the Weiner" campaign led by both Democrats and Republicans. Initially, the gentleman from New York stated that he would not resign from his job. He APOLOGIZED for his wrong doings, and that was where we were suppose to accept his apology, and move on. WELLLLLLLL not in these parts! Nope, you see they continued to dig, and found more pics to humiliate the poor man, and keep-in-mind, his wife, who is a very well respected employee of the government serving Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. (His Wife is Beautiful, Might I add.) Congressman Weiner, then deals with his "issue" the American way. He goes to rehab! (I didn't know there was a twitter rehab unit at Betty Ford.) The only problem the man really had was that he did not know how to use twitter. Twitter is not the place to be sending those pics kind of pics. The other problem that the congressman has is the same problem that haunts men all over the world. MEN NEED VALIDATION and AFFIRMATION! If your guy says he does not need you to tell him he us "Hott and Steamy", he is LIEING! Men are just like women, they need to feel needed and wanted.

Today, Congreeman Weiner announced that he would resign. I am sad to see him go. I believe that the leaders of the democratic party are afraid of the religious fundamentalists (which by the way, Nancy they are not voting for you anyway), and they were too weak minded to stand behind the Congressman. To Congressman Weiner, I wish you well. Your passion for the the welfare of your constiuants is definitely going to be missed. New York's 9th district is loosing a great soldier!

Lastly but most definitely not least is TRACY MORGAN! I just want to see him in the store and say "What were you thinking?" Tracy Morgan is most popularly known for his role on 30 Rock and NBC comedy. He is also well known for skits from Saturday night Life. It's sad to say that he is most likely very well known for material that was in his stand-up comedy set that he performed in Nashville, Tennessee. During the set Tracy went into a what was suppose to be funny rage about gay women, and men. He also went as far as to say that if his son was gay "I would stab the little n***a." Well a patron in the audience is a gay male updated his facebook status about what was taking place. There were also members of the media, and press in the audience. A week later the story made news when Tracy Morgan apologized for the material.

Earlier today, I posed a question about should material in comedy routines be subject to "political correctness." Let me be clear, you will never hear or see Tracy Morgan on any T.V in this house. It is a sad day when an entertainer abuses the format that he or she has been blessed with. Tracy, you are in a position to change lives. Sure, people need to laugh. It keeps them from going postal on their co-workers. But, to make people laugh at the expense of another class of individuals, is low-life living. The mans character is explained in his choice of words.

REFRESHER: Paul Revere

Hello Blog Buddies! There is a lot of talk regarding a comment made by Sarah Palin. (SIGH - Oh Sarah!) Anyways, the not so well versed Palin incorrectly quoted some of the historical happenings.

I am on a crusade to make sure that all of my blog buddies are familiar with Paul Revere.

1. Paul Revere was a silversmith who during the French and Indian war served as a soldier.

2. He joined the secret anti-British organization called the "Sons of Liberty".

3. He participated in the Boston Tea Party, to protest British high Taxes (imposed by the Stamp Act of 1765).

4. He warned American patriots that the British were coming as the American
Revolution began. (Sarah said he warned the British).

5. He is famous for his midnight ride when as ordered he road to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were on their way.

I will leave the continuing education to you.

I suggest that we all take a minute to freshen up our American History.

Weiner, Weiner, Weiner!

So my title sucks! No doubt about it. However, its very funny to say.

A week ago, we were introduced to Anthony Weiner a Democrat from New York, who originally made a statement to the media stating that his twitter account was hacked and that the picture that was tweeted of a man in his underwear highlighting his crotch, was not his. Senator Weiner made a statement that the picture was not his, and that he had been hacked, and he maintained that he was innocent. He even went as far as to call a CNN producer out of his name during an interview.



Im going to practice ethical Journalism and not post the pictures that were tweeted here. I do not feel that there is a need to add fuel to a fire, that will soon hopefully die down. Today, around 3:30 p.m. est the Senator announced that he would do a press conference at 4p.m. est. I do not think that anyone could have expected the chain of events that would follow



So here is where I am. Why is it that people in public office do crazy things and feel as though they will never get caught? I believe that Mr. Weiner confessed about this because it had been made known that another picture of him bare chested had surfaced. In this pic it is obviously him, because in the background is a picture of him shaking hands with former President Bill Clinton (birds of a feather really do flock together).



People when you decide to put yourself in a compromising position and you are "found-out", just own it. It is much better if you tell the truth and own your actions. I believe that the cost of lieing is much greater, compared to saying "I did it". I think most Americans could have forgave him becuase the only reason why the pic turned up in his main news feed is because he didnt use the DM feature on Twitter correctly. We have all had technology hick-ups before.

Lastly, please understand that your twitter followers, and facebook friends are not sworn to any kind of secrecy. Do not believe that just because someone is your "friend" or "fan" on social media that you can trust this person with your life. His first mistake was that he trusted this girl. I will not same shame on him, becuase lets be honest, most people have committed some kind of stupid act in this day of social media, however, I will Thank him for giving us another lesson on what no to do with twitter and other forms of Social media.

He will live to see another day and he actually does have somewhat of a nice chest! :-)
